At 16, Matt felt he had no way out.
Matt didn't let anyone see his pain, until it was nearly too late.
Growing up, Matt always appeared to be thriving. He seemed confident and popular. But underneath the smile, it was a different story.
“I was a mess. I felt consumed with shame, guilt, hurt and worthlessness.”
His emotions weighed ever more heavily until, at just 16, Matt tried to take his own life. Against all odds, he survived. But he was left paralysed from the waist down.
“Even though nothing was the same, I feel blessed to have a second chance.”
More than 3,000 people in Australia die by suicide every year, and Matt could have been one of them.
That’s nine precious lives, every single day…
