COMING SOON!
On Wednesday, 25 March, every donation to Lifeline will be DOUBLED for 24 hours only.
Each day, thousands of people reach out to Lifeline because they don’t know where else to turn. In moments of distress, speaking on the phone isn’t always possible.
Your donation to our Help @ Hand Giving Day provides access to support through text and web chat, the Support Toolkit, and the Beyond Now app. Lifeline’s digital services allow people to access support in a way that works best for them in moments of overwhelm or crisis.
Let’s come together and give more Australians help at hand when they need it most.
Hear from Matthew, one of Lifeline's digital crisis supporters
Our digital crisis support services are experiencing more demand than ever.
Over the past year alone:
📱 87,690 text conversations were answered (up 14.1%)
🖥 142,871 web chat conversations were held (up 11.7%)
💙 Lifeline’s website and self-led resources supported 1.5 million people (up 12.4%)
Every one of these moments represents someone reaching out through the device they have at hand—often at their most vulnerable.
We must continue to be there for them. Your support makes that possible.
Social gatherings can increase tensions where relationships are strained. Even people with close relationships may not feel comfortable sharing feelings of distress or ‘burdening’ loved ones at this time of year.
It’s crucial that Lifeline can be here for everyone who needs us, no matter how, when or why they reach out.
“Very clearly written and a great intro for me to clarify reasons for self-harm and importance to get help. An emotional plea. Thanks”
– feedback on the ‘Self-harm’ topic in the Support Toolkit
“...I wanted to express my gratitude & thank the crisis support team member who answered my call when I was struggling with distress. She assisted me with my spiralling thoughts, and sat with me through it with kindness & without
judgement.”

"I spoke with this incredible woman when I was at my lowest point, and she gave me the strength to carry on. I was on the verge of giving up, but her support gave me just enough strength to keep going."

"I spoke with a team member on Lifeline web chat tonight who was very kind, amazing at holding space, encouraging and validating. They didn't offer advice, that was the most powerful thing, they listened, they asked questions, they cared. By the end of the convo my distress went down to a 1/10."

"Just a quick note to say how incredibly grateful I am for your service. I’ve called Lifeline multiple times, and while it took me time to feel safe, I’ve learned that it truly is. Your counsellors are excellent listeners, and they’ve consistently helped lift me from a "shade of darkness" to a brighter place. This is especially true of the wonderful lady I spoke with this afternoon. Thank you again!"

"Thank you so much Lifeline. You have listened to me connected and understood me and taught me how to get through the hardest times of my life and taught me self-care. Please keep doing what you are doing. I feel empowered and strong because of you. I'm not alone. Lifeline cares."

Help more people access support when they need it most
The Support Toolkit offers trusted, practical resources people can utilise in their own time and return to whenever they need guidance or coping strategies.
Text and web chat provide an immediate, discreet way to connect with a crisis supporter when someone may not feel safe or comfortable speaking on the phone, or just prefers to type rather than talk.
The Beyond Now app helps people create personalised safety plans, giving them strength and strategies to stay safe during crisis moments and beyond
*The Buildcorp Foundation will match donations up to a total of $250,000. Donations made after matched funds are exhausted will contribute to the appeal total and be used for the same purpose - to strengthen Lifeline's digital crisis support and suicide prevention services.
